When is the 2021 Walk to End Homelessness in New London CT?
Join a noble cause by taking part in the 14th Annual Walk to End Homelessness organized by the New London Homeless Hospitality Center and Connecticut College on June 27th. The ticket to join this event costs $15. For children under the age of 12, the ticket is free of cost. This year, the walk will begin and end at the Soldiers and Sailors monument in downtown New London. This walk is aimed at raising awareness and funds for the New London Homeless Hospitality Center which offers assistance and shelter for homeless individuals.
Activities in the 2021 Walk to End Homelessness
The walk will start at 1.00 PM after a brief registration and pre-walk activity session. The event will begin with a live music performance by the local band Dogbite at 11:45 PM. Restaurants close to the venue will be open for breakfast, brunch, and/or lunch on the day of the walk. The New London Homeless Hospitality Center encourages fundraising and is also offering prizes for top fundraisers. Filomena’s Restaurant in Waterford is offering the following incentives for the prizewinners:
- First Prize: Cocktail party for up to 15 guests with 2 hours of appetizers accompanied with beer and wine.
- Second Prize: Dinner for 15 individuals
- Third Prize: Lunch for 15 individuals
What is the New London Homeless Hospitality Center?
The New London Homeless Hospitality Center was founded in 2006 and has since, worked towards helping homeless individuals along with providing shelter to them. They also help the individuals to find permanent housing. The event was conducted virtually last year due to Covid restrictions. This year, the event is back in its original form. This year, New London Homeless Hospitality Center aims to assist over 600 people. Their shelter is known as the Daytime Hospitality Center and is located at 730 State Pier Road.
