The Mercedes-AMG GT series is the epitome of performance and in its 2021 avatar, packs an extra punch to keep the driver gripped to the seat. To make it even more special, Mercedes-Benz is offering a top-of-the-line GT Black Series for the 2021 model year. But what makes the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series so special? Let’s have a look.
2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Performance Specs
When you come across the ‘Black Series’ badge, you can rest assured the vehicle you are witnessing is going to scream performance. A badge that was previously donned by only five vehicles in the past, the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT is now the latest model to receive this honor. The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is powered by the most powerful AMG V-8 engine. The AMG GT Black Series pumps out a staggering 720 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. It’s no surprise that the AMG GT Black Series can cross the 60 MPH mark from a standstill in a blistering 3.1 seconds and has a top speed of 202 MPH!
The Affalterbach engineers achieved these numbers thanks to the precisely configured engine paired with performance-specific components such as a reinforced AMG SPEEDSHIFT® DCT 7G dual-clutch transmission, AMG coil-over suspension with AMG RIDE CONTROL adaptive adjustable damping, front diffuser with two manually adjustable settings, and mechanically adjustable rear spoiler blades, to name a few.
2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Interior and Exterior Features
The design language of the AMG GT Black Series screams performance. The radiator grille is larger compared to the other AMG GT’s and sports vertical chrome struts. You know you are dealing with a track-focused sports car when it has carbon fiber components all over. The carbon fiber front splitter has two adjustable settings and is coupled with an interestingly shaped front diffuser that increases downforce based on its position. The carbon fiber hood with a large air intake accentuates the performance-oriented look of the vehicle. Not just that; the roof, hatch, and underbody of the vehicle are also made of carbon fiber.
If that’s not enough, the huge two-stage rear spoiler is also made of carbon fiber and helps in refining the performance of the AMG GT Black Series. The upper blade of the spoiler has an adjustable flap that has four activation strategies, namely AMG Dynamics Basic, Advanced, Pro, and Master. At lower speeds, the flap extends creating additional downforce. At speeds above 155 MPH, it retracts to reduce air resistance. The design language is carried into the interior as well. The AMG GT Black Series is equipped with AMG Performance seats, an AMG Performance steering wheel, and an aluminum instrument panel. You get a choice of either NAPPA leather or DINAMICA microfiber upholstery with orange or silver contrast stitching.
